Bladder Campion

Silene vulgaris

A native perennial found in grassland and roadside verges, especially on well-drained soils.  A pleasant clove-like aroma is emitted from the small white flowers held above waxy grey/green foilage from May to August.  A nectar plant for butterflies suited to rock gardens and grassy banks.

Height: 30-90cm (1-3ft).

Planting site: Most well drained soils in full sun.

Many butterflies and other insects depend on our disappearing native wild plants. By creating a wildlife area in your garden and growing native wildflowers, you will produce an attractive habitat for butterflies, bees, birds and other wildlife.

It is illegal to take plants from the wild.
