Winter Celebration Sun 4th Dec 2011

Posted on 29th November, 2011

Join us at the award winning National Wildflower Centre on Sunday 4th December 2011 between 12 noon and 4 pm for our annual
FREE family event, the Winter Celebration.

We have lots of FREE festive workshops for everyone, including holly wreath making, Christmas crowns, bird feeders and tree dressing ornaments. A craft marquee has fabulous festive gifts and information and advice from local organisations.

The Cornflower Café will be open, serving delicious warming food including hot mulled apple & cranberry juice; roast chestnuts; hot pork & turkey sandwiches; soups and homemade mince pies.

As part of our promotion of good health and wellbeing, we’ll have information on our project Get Growing to encourage people to grow their own food and cook healthy meals and our Great Outdoors project will provide lots of great information to help people get more active through nature for better health and wellbeing.

As no celebration in December would be complete without a certain seasonal visit from Father Christmas will be in evidence too, resplendent in his comfortable grotto. Our Early Years area has Tom the Storyteller and Ryall Designs want help making a giant picture. Stephen Green will be bringing his rescue birds of prey.

We’ll also be announcing the winners of our Winter Challenge. Community Groups and schools from across Merseyside have taken part in creating beautiful  octahedron decorations. All decorations will be on display in the cafe.

We are very grateful for all the hard work of our volunteers who has helped us prepare for the day and the following organisations for their support of this event Knowsley Council, Fresh Start, Great Outdoors, Get Growing, Friends of Court Hey Park and Express Maintenance Services.

Hope to see you there.
