There is increasing recognition of the value of green infrastructure and its value, but very little debate about what is possible, and how we gain the most for nature in these debates, and raise the aspiration of what this terminology can deliver, when we integrate nature fully with our living environment.

Detailing Landlife’s long term (37 year) experience of working creatively in the urban landscape and beyond at an increasingly landscape scale. The day will include site visits to a selection of projects, illustrating the range of what is possible, and range from the rural to the urban scene.  Opportunities exist for greatly improving the quality of urban green infrastructure for wildlife, whether existing green spaces or new ones at the design stage of a development. Sadly such opportunities are often missed or not considered.  This day will introduce a range of techniques and specifications and cost comparisons, and include demolition substrates and soil inversion using deep ploughing to over one metre, with all soultions using wild flower seed mixtures. Sites where these methods have been used will be visited. This day is particularly aimed at landscape architects and designers, and ecological consultants and land regeneration specialists.  The day will be hosted at the National Wildflower Centre, which has already braught millions of pounds into the local economy since it opened in 2001.
