Nordic Pole Walking started out in the early 20th century as a way of keeping cross-country skiers fit during the Finnish summers. It is a specific training technique designed to target 90 per cent of the body muscles without causing muscle fatigue. It burns up to 20 per cent more calories than normal walking if the correct technique is used and perfectly combines the mental health benefits of effective exercise with those of being outdoors.

Regular Nordic Walks are led by qualified instructors and take place weekly rain or shine. Walks take place in Court Hey Park and last approximately 1 hour. The walk is a reduced effort / pace and can be beneficial for therapeutic recovery.

All abilities welcome. Poles and instruction provided.
